We support people who are DeafBlind, DeafDisabled, Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and Late Deafened who have experienced domestic violence, sexual violence, stalking, or dating violence. Our services are open to people with diverse, intersectional identities.
While there is limited national data, we know from survivors and community leaders that Deaf survivors with multiple identities often face extra barriers to safety, communication, and healing, which makes them some of the most underserved within victim services. Our programs focus on providing accessible, respectful, and survivor-centered support.
DAWN recognizes that the criminal justice system is not always the safest or most effective option for everyone, particularly for communities that have experienced systemic discrimination and harm. As a result, some survivors choose not to engage with the system. In response, we offer alternative, community-based approaches that center healing, choice, and self-determination. These services include restorative justice practices, non-traditional healing supports, and intensive collaboration with culturally specific agencies and organizations.

“DAWN supported me and my son through one of the toughest times in our lives, providing housing, resources, counseling, and support as both survivors. Thanks to DAWN’s help, my son was able to stay in school, graduate high school, and is now preparing to start university this fall. DAWN truly changed our lives.”
